Peggy (Maxwell) Day
Mike (NPHS class of ’62) and I were married in August 1964. We have two children Michelle
and Matthew. Michelle, her husband Chris, and our granddaughter Grace who is 2 years old live
in Bramhall, England. We enjoy traveling over the big pond to see them at least once a year.
Since they also own a home in Lenox, Ma, we do get to see them more than our yearly trip to
England. Skype has made being grandparents from afar much easier. Our son Matthew and his
wife Nora live in West Chester, Pa with our twin grandsons. Maxwell (wonder where that name
came from) and Logan just turned 7. We see them more often and have enjoyed watching them
grow and change.
After 15 years of working as an elementary school secretary, and Mike working for 30 years
with Owen-Illinois we retired in 2000. Since during Mike’s career we moved a lot, (16 times)
we decided when we retired we would find a spot and stay put. We moved to Aiken, SC 12
years ago. One of the side benefits to our home is when we are not playing golf we can watch
our friends and neighbors play as they go by our house. When we are not traveling to see our
children and grandchildren we have enjoyed playing golf in Scotland, England, Canada, and here
in the USA. One thing we have found is if the game isn’t as good as we would like the views are
wonderful. Gardening, reading, and volunteering fill the rest of our spare time.
It is hard to believe that 50 years has passed since we graduated from high school. Where does
the time go?
