Patty (Winkler) Dean
I was born and raised in Dover even though we moved to Cleveland the last semester of my
senior year. I went from a senior class of about 150 students to a senior class of 1200 . Needless
to say, I left my heart in Dover, Ohio. (smile)
After graduation I attended Moody Bible Institute for a semester and committed my life to
nursing. I graduated from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing as an R.N. and married
Nelson Dean whom I met at church. We have been married now for 46 years. He attended 4
years of college and 4 years of seminary and received a Masters of Divinity degree from Grace
Theological Seminaary in Winona Lake, Indiana. We pastored churches in Michigan and
Wisconsin and have many wonderful memories...
I worked in many hospital settings - Baylor University Orthopedic dept, where we treated a
number of Dallas Cowboys' injuries., an oncology research center using new experimental
chemotherapy, in a rural county in Indiana I was the executive director and established a new
Home Health Service under a Board of Directors; The last 20 years I was the Director of Nursing
in several long term care facilities and specialized in gerontology which I loved. My husband
and I retireds 5 years ago in Meridian, Idaho which is gorgeous! We have two children. Tim and
his family live in Boise, Id. and have three children. He has his own business as a computer
engineer. Our daughter and family live in Carthage, North Carolina, with four children. Robert
and Kimberly are in the ministry. Having seven grandchildren, we are truly blessed. Since I am
a breast cancer susrvivor for over 20 years, each day is a gift for which I am truly grateful.
